Mikhail Bogomolny is a California-certified court interpreter (English–Russian). State law deems a certified court interpreter qualified as a medical interpreter for examinations conducted to determine damages in a civil action, and for workers' compensation evaluations. He interprets independent and defense medical exams, QME and AME evaluations and insurance exams across Southern California.

Why attorneys and carriers book Mikhail

Qualified, so the exam counts

Evidence Code §755.5 requires a qualified interpreter at an exam requested by an insurer or defendant; without one, the exam records and testimony about it are inadmissible. A California certified court interpreter meets that standard, including at QME and AME evaluations.

Medical vocabulary in both languages

Mikhail also translates medical records, discharge summaries and doctors' notes from Russian, Ukrainian and Hebrew, so anatomy, diagnoses and medication names come through in standard English terms.

Precise about symptoms

The report rests on how the examinee describes pain and limits, and Russian is specific: ноет is aching, колет stabbing, жжёт burning, тянет pulling. Every answer is interpreted in the first person, without adding, explaining or softening.

Neutral for both sides

No advice to the examinee, no side conversations, no opinions. The doctor's questions and instructions during the physical exam are interpreted exactly, in defense and plaintiff exams alike.

Experience behind it

Hundreds of depositions, EUOs and court hearings, and more than 750 USCIS interviews. When the same matter needs a deposition interpreter or certified translations of foreign medical records, one professional handles all of it.

Prepared and punctual

Arrives before the appointment, checks in with the examinee, and sight-translates intake forms when needed. Works with attorneys, claims administrators and IME scheduling companies.

Exams covered

  • Independent medical examinations (IME) and defense medical exams in personal injury cases
  • Qualified and agreed medical evaluations (QME, AME) in workers' compensation
